Reducing a Page Set question

Hi everyone,

We have a Page Set on a WMQ v7.0.1 z/OS Queue Manager that needs to be
resized due to some recent reorganizing of a lot of queues. The "How to
Reduce a Page Set" procedure in the v7 Info Center
(http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/topic/com.ibm.mq.cs
qsaw.doc/za12190_.htm) would have us using a new VSAM file of a
different name.

Has anyone gone through this procedure by just redefining the Page Set
using the same VSAM file name? I want to do something like the
following, but would like to know if I'm just going to cause myself
problems.
1. Stop the queue manager.
2. Run the CSQUTIL SCOPY to dump the Page Set as a backup and to
restore later.
3. Run an IDCAMS ALTER to rename the current Page Set to a backup
name.
4. Run an IDCAMS DEFINE to redefine the same original VSAM file
name to use as the new smaller Page Set.
5. Run the CSQUTIL FORMAT TYPE(NEW) against the new smaller Page
Set.
6. Restart the queue manager.
7. Run the CSQUTIL LOAD to restore the messages.

Thanks,

Curt Dolny

Thanks Richard. Thanks Dinesh.

I’ve gone through the process myself now and everything worked.
