Discussion:
MQFTE - mainframe fixed block file becomes variable block after transfer to windows server?

We have an issue during an MQFTE transfer from the mainframe to a windows server. The dataset leaves the mainframe as (FB) fixed block 1000 byte records but upon arriving at the windows server, the records are variable block. We have another MQFTE transfer that works fine and appears to be identical to the aforementioned except for the record length is 260 for the one that works. Any ideas?

TIA,

Any relevant error messages from either end of the transfer?

Care to share the dataset and file definitions at both ends - for both the
successful and unsuccessful transfer.

No error messages, the files transfer. One works fine and one changes the file from fixed block on the mainframe to variable on the server.

This one works fine

We are checking the allocation on the server now. We found some info that might point to that as an issue. Programmers allocate those.

Do the records in the file have trailing spaces?  We experienced issues with trailing spaces being dropped which affected some of our applications in Windows.  Depending on what level of MQFTE you are at, there is an option to retain the trailing spaces.
