Lawrence's email footer got me to thinking
the more MQ goes B2B, the more we'll need IBM to provide an appropriate message property or header for this. You still receive the MQ message representing that order from your vendor, but attached to it is a header or message property that contains this:

This message, including any attachments, is the property of Sears Holdings Corporation and/or one of its subsidiaries. It is confidential and may contain proprietary or legally privileged information. If you are not the intended recipient, please delete it without reading the contents. Thank you.

These footers have only one real purpose: they are the algae in a food chain which terminates at the top with lawyers. You can tell because only a lawyer would, with a straight face, insist that a notice instructing you not to read the contents of an email message is effective when inserted at the bottom of the message. Not only is it unenforceable in a court of law, but it is constructed in such a way as to preclude the possibility of compliance.

Which makes it a great candidate for official support from IBM. There's bound to be incredible demand for it once lawyers make the mental connection that MQ messages are like email messages but lacking the obligatory corporate boilerplate restrictive-yet-useless footer. Expect the PCI council to make these mandatory at some point.

It is possible to recreate/copy the contents of a queue by using a combination of the IBM sample program amqsbcg in conjunction with the qload (Paul Clarke) utility.

Here is how you do it:

1. Browse the queue and redirect the output to a file

Ø Amqsbcg QName QMName > /tmp/xxxxx.out

2. Next run qload

Ø Qload –m QMName –oQName –f/tmp/xxxxxout

Qload will read the output from the browse and recreate messages.

This message, including any attachments, is the property of Sears Holdings Corporation and/or one of its subsidiaries. It is confidential and may contain proprietary or legally privileged information. If you are not the intended recipient, please delete it without reading the contents. Thank you.

I think of these as the equivalent of the shrink-wrapped software bundles
with the booklet inside saying "Opening this package indicates acceptance
of the terms and conditions". I'm sure Microsoft got away with that for
years.

Trouble with those scare footers though is they always make me read the
mail that bit more carefully in case something truly confidential *has*
accidentally slipped out.

But yes, IBM lawyers are no slouches so we can probably expect to see them
with "IBM Message Q Bus Enterprise" Version 9 when it hits the streets
(ooops sorry - still under NDA. You are now legally required to forget you
read this name).
