Discussion:
Defining multiple CLUSSDR channels

We're adding a new MQ cluster on our z/OS QMGR to a distributed cluster which has two full repositories (the z/OS QMGR already participates in another cluster). Clustering is still a bit new to me; is there any reason to (or not to) create CLUSSDR channels to both FRs in the new cluster? IBM's documentation (Queue Manager Clusters) indicate that one CLUSSDR channel needs to be created to a FR QMGR...just wondering why I should (or shouldn't) create channels to both.

Thanks.

Rob

Hi Rob,

The recommendation from the IBM Clustering training that I took was to do one cluster sender channel. Let's say you have partial repository QM1 on z/OS and full repository queue managers QM2 and QM3 on distributed. When QM1 defines its CLUSSDR to QM2, QM2 will immediately notify QM1 about full repository QM3. And then QM1 will auto create the CLUSSDR to QM3. That is at least how I understand it.

Thanks,
