Hello all, is there a way to make an MQ client talk to more than one queue manager at a time without having to reconfigure it?

The MQ Client application would need to issue multiple MQCONNX calls if it needed to be concurrently connected to multiple queue managers.

It is typically incorrect for a single instance of an app to need to connect to multiple QMs concurrently, unless it's some sort of monitoring tool.

I knew it could be done. I see that MO71 connects to several queue managers. Thanks.

Hi Mike,

What do you mean by 'reconfigure it' ?

There are multiple ways that you can configure a client so that it can
connect to more than one Queue Manager at a time. Each call to
MQCONN/MQCONNX could resolve to a different Queue Manager. This is achieved
by using things like the CCDT, or the MQCD on the MQCONNX verb, or even a
PreConn exit.

What is the problem you are trying to solve?

Cheers,
Paul.

I was told by the programming staff here that it couldn't be done without having to reconfigure the qmgr name channel port et al, but it didn't make sense with what I was reading. Thanks for enlightening me. :)
