MQ data Conversion Issue...

I have an AIX 5.3 system running WMQ 7.0.1.4 and I am getting the error below. I have googled the error and every post states that I am missing a fileset(s). However, they do not indicate which fileset(s) is missing. The same program works when connected to an AIX WMQ 6.0.x queue manager.

When I execute this command: lslpp -L|grep -I bos.iconv.*
I get
bos.iconv.com 5.3.12.1 C F Common Language to Language
bos.iconv.ucs.com 5.3.12.1 C F Unicode Base Converters for

on BOTH servers.

Can anyone point me to the right filesets that might be missing?

PS: I get the same error when I connect to a WMQ 7.5.x AIX server. If I connect to a Linux server running 7.0.x or 7.5.x.....it works.

437 is Windows base, so Damian is probably right about that fileset.

It's odd that an AIX queue manager or a Linux queue manager would be
attempting to convert Unicode data into a Windows codepage. Are you
running a set of client apps on Windows, perhaps?

Thank you,

Jeff Lowrey

Out of curiosity is the application a Java application?

v7.0 introduced a number of different changes in where and when and how
data conversion happens for Java applications. Essentially the default is
now on the queue manager, where in v6 it was handled in the client-side
JVM.

Thank you,

Jeff Lowrey

No, it is not java.

Out of curiosity is the application a Java application?

v7.0 introduced a number of different changes in where and when and how data conversion happens for Java applications. Essentially the default is now on the queue manager, where in v6 it was handled in the client-side JVM.

Thank you,

Installing this fileset did the trick. I am still a little perplexed that connecting to a V6 queue manager that did not have this fileset installed worked, but the same program did not work with a V7 queue manager even though it had the same filesets as the V6.

When I execute this command: lslpp –L|grep –I bos.iconv.*
I get
bos.iconv.com 5.3.12.1 C F Common Language to Language
bos.iconv.ucs.com 5.3.12.1 C F Unicode Base Converters for

on BOTH servers.

Can anyone point me to the right filesets that might be missing?

PS: I get the same error when I connect to a WMQ 7.5.x AIX server. If I connect to a Linux server running 7.0.x or 7.5.x
..it works.
